An Application of Pe^rt Formula
Generating ideas has come easily to me in past projects due to my interest in a subject increasing when I understand that subject.
The subjects that I have been able to memorize are the tools I use to create projects and or reference when learning a new concept.
The latest project was easily brainstormed because I had free range to use any equation or subject in algebra 2 we had learned over the year. I used my favorite subject which was Pert formula.
My use of Pert shows that I understood it well enough to create and new problem pertaining to real life situations.
Restating problems and creating new ways to get them across to other people became useful when I was helping my fellow classmates learn subjects I had excelled at. I was an active member of the group and showed initiative more so my second semester than my first. My grades had been low and with a good attitude and solid work ethic I was able to pull my grades to admirable percentage. I would not have been able to pull myself and a few classmates out of the mud without asking questions on our subjects constantly which then I was able to pass my understanding down to a shy kid or someone who was slacking.
I fail everyday that I attempt a new concept in math but with a lot of questioning and practice problems I have been able to understand that concept thoroughly after one to a few classes depending on the equation family.
The failures and accidents are more helpful than getting it right in my opinion because I can remember the equations I understood first try whereas the equations that took me a long time to understand stick.
Now there are sections in equations where I know that my understanding is weak and I pay harder attention to get that section correct so the whole equation isn't flawed.
Specifically to my favorite equation, the pert equation i have been able to find how much my money in my bank will mature with over time. I feel that real world application has not been hard in Algebra 2 because I can find anything for the equations to solve outside of school.
Present evidence to support your claims of various strengths and weaknesses. These pieces of evidence could be anecdotes from your project work, your final project itself, POWS/explorations, notes, incomplete work, or anything else that proves your point. How much? Enough to illustrate your point.
Pow 11 was my weakness because I was not sure how to do any of the equation due to my lack of interest in the formula. After several hours of collaboration with classmates and asking questions I was able to understand how to solve the pow.
There have been several instances where I had no clue what to do and got help but in my experience getting help is better than waiting for yourself to catch on or coast which is a famous move of mine.
